still on vacay! but look!

OOOOH.....kat has gotten into doing nail art. That witch has gotten me addicted to her doing my nails. Now i'll have to come up once a week and get em done. NO, i'm not married before any of you ask. I just happen to be wearing a giant cocktail ring that day. I love the crazy color, but what's even more fun is this. Kat got the Migi Nail collection at Sam's Club today and we're gonna try them out. Kat would show her nails off, but her hands are a bit swollen from auntie flow. Look for more about this later. ALSO, if you like the idea of these pens and want them for yourself, go to Migi Nail Art and select Order at the top. Do note, you get free refills for life by registering with them (shipping and handling not included, its only about $3 bucks though) and you can order 2 free each time after registering. Mind you, you have to buy a kit first to register. But trust me, Kat, her mom, and I think their worth it. I honestly like this, but i'm a bit unsteady with my hands when it comes to this stuff. Kat on the other hand is pretty steady as she can sew, and makes jewelry. Oh! If any of you do decide to buy any of the kits, let me know and i'll give you Kat's address and name as she gets two free colors each time someone buys something from them, its called referral.
Paint Splat Nails

These are my new set. Kat did a half moon in Fresh Paint "Neon Orange" with a yellow gold glitter look over top then clear on the upper half. On the thumb, she did what we thought would be fun, which is use the migi nail pen to make a nickelodeon or paint splat look. Everyone remembers that when we were kids, Nick's splat symbol? Well, we thought it would look awesome to make a splat on my nails. My toes are the orange and yellow glitter completely which i love! Kat's mom says she really should just give in and go get a cosmetology degree but Kat doesn't want to do peoples feet....lol. Also, do note, Kat bought the Migi Nail Art herself, she did not get it sent to her by Migi. And yes, i will probably post once a week, the new pics of my nails. Depends on if i get em done every week too. Sometimes a good manicure lasts longer.

Oh, if you wondering how to do the splat, Kat will give you instructions.

HI EVERYBODY! Kat here. Okay, so to do the nail art thing. You should clean your nails before hand, pun intended. Always take care of your nails, especially by cleaning them in the shower. Hot water does wonders for your skin. Once your done cleaning your nails, get out all your tools and make sure you always have paper towels nearby for messes.
Step 1: Choose your base for the half moon design then apply to the bottom half of your nails. To achieve the half moon design, I use the french tip sticker strips and place them up above where the bottom will be. Usually, i go up a tiny bit to allow for growth of the nail so your half moon doesn't show off the nail bed too soon. Paint one layer only unless its really thin. Allow to dry mostly.
Step 2: This is if your adding any lines, a glitter, or whatever else over the base. Usually, a good matchup is coordinating colors...like orange and yellow are close for a glitter top. Add your second layer and allow to dry. Once dry, remove the strips and you should have clean lines! If the lines appear jagged, use a cuticle pusher to gently smooth them out.
Step 3: Apply a clear base coat to the top half to the half moon line, don't go over the half moon. That makes the layers pretty even. If you want different colors, you can do so, just remember, color sometimes need extra coats to be even. Allow to dry.
Step 4: Pick your Migi color for the splats. I did the technique where you apply two drop layers then squiggle through them. Use the pen part for the drops, the bottom layer should be larger than the top. Apply the second color as soon as you finish your drops for the first, this helps make the splat.
Step 5: Take the cleaning pin (supplied in the migi nail art kit) and swirl it through the colors up and sideways. You'll need to run it through a few times to achieve the longer tentacles for the splat. Allow to dry.
Step 6: Apply a top coat of clear to keep it neat and clean. I use the fast dry diamond shine from Sally Hansen, expensive, but worth it. Once its dry, its pretty hard to chip unless your running or scraping your nails.

And that's how you make the splat! As long as you don't write nickelodeon in the middle, its not their splat lol. I think of it as a big paint splat on your finger. The colors for the nails i bought at Five Below ( best deal for polish!) as its 3 for $5.
